HOURLY SALARY RANGE:   Pay Grade 15

                                                $16.00 to $24.93  (based on experience)

The City of Temple is recruiting to fill a full-time position for Code Enforcement Officer.  This position is responsible for performing various tasks and handling various responsibilities in Code Enforcement for the enforcement of municipal codes, ordinances, and regulations.  The work includes on-site inspections of commercial, industrial, and residential properties in the City for possible violations.  While the person would report to the City Administrator and Public Works Director, the Code Enforcement Officer generally would be expected to work independently in the absence of close supervision.  Complaints to be investigated include zoning, land use, litter, nuisance, signs, animals, noise, dumping, utility meters, “fats, oils, and grease”, storm water, and business and alcohol licenses.  Meets with owners, tenants, contractors, developers, businesses, etc., to review and explain code requirements, violations and potential violations.  Secures code compliance.  Writes reports, maintains files, inputs and retrieves a variety of information using a computer.  Much of the work is done outside and requires standing, walking, stooping, bending, crouching, climbing ladders, and frequently lifting light objects.
