CITY OF TEMPLE REQUEST FOR SEALED BIDS FOR STREET RESURFACING

The City of Temple is soliciting sealed bids from qualified paving companies for repairing and resurfacing certain residential streets in these three subdivisions:  Perennial Park, Lakeland Park, and School House Trace.

The deadline for receipt of sealed bids by the City of Temple is 3:00 p.m. Thursday, July 29.  Bids will be opened on this date at 3:00 p.m. at the Temple City Hall, 240 Carrollton Street.

In two of these three residential subdivisions, the total linear footage of the repair and resurfacing work in these respective subdivisions add to 4,200 linear feet in the Perennial Park development and 750 linear feet in the School House Trace development.  The third development is Lakeland Park; and while street repairs are to be done along the entire 4,350 linear feet, resurfacing work is to be done only on selected sections of this subdivision as determined by the paving company.

The street width in these subdivisions is 24 feet; also, each of the cul de sacs in the Perennial Park and Lakeland Park subdivisions can vary slightly in size, as can be seen by reviewing plans for these subdivisions or through on-site observation.

In Perennial Park and School House Trace and in those street sections in Lakeland Park where the paving company determines resurfacing is to occur, a 2-inch asphalt topping is to be applied.  The specific street sections in Lakeland Park where a need for resurfacing is identified by the paving company, said needs are to be identified specifically in that bidder’s proposal.  This work would include milling, as needed.

Factors in the City Council’s selection of the company to perform this work will include price, scope of work in preparing and then resurfacing these streets, and the timeline for completing the work.

For identification purposes:  (a) The Perennial Park subdivision is located on the west side of Georgia Highway 113 (Carrollton Street), with the entrance across from that part of Ingle’s property where its fueling center is located.    (b) The Lakeland Park subdivision is located on the east side of Bar J Road across from this road’s intersection with Villa Rosa Road.  (c) The School House Trace development is located on the west side of Georgia Highway 274 (James Street), a short distance south of the U.S. Post Office in Temple.

Questions should be directed to City Administrator Bill Osborne at the Temple City Hall (770/562-3369).

The Sealed Bid must be received and stamped by the Temple City Clerk at City Hall prior to 3:00 p.m. Thursday, July 29.  City Hall’s street address is 240 Carrollton Street.  The mailing address is either 240 Carrollton Street or Post Office Box 160; and the zip code for Temple is 30179.
